A virtual tour of an apartment based solo on architectural drawings.21702

Hi, all!
I was asked by a client this and I wonder if it is even possible. Do you know if any AI engine at the moment, with the right prompt of course, could create a virtual tour (looking like one from Matterport for instance), based solo on the architectural drawings of a place that hasn't been built yet and does't even have a 3d model.

Great question, and yes, it's possible today. It just can't be done from a single prompt in a general-purpose AI like ChatGPT or Claude. It takes a specialized pipeline, and the right one depends on how accurate the tour needs to be.

Dedicated plan-to-tour services are the closest match to what your client is asking for. Getfloorplan accepts floor plans as DWG, JPG, PNG, or PDF files and turns them into 3D floor plans, 360 walkthroughs, VR, and renders, usually within 24 hours. It's aimed at developers and agencies marketing new builds. The result is a furnished dollhouse-plus-panorama experience that resembles a Matterport tour, though it doesn't have Matterport's exact navigation feel.

Plan-to-3D model tools like Cedreo, Planner 5D, and AiHouse are another option. You convert the plan into a 3D model, render 360 degree panoramas from it, and stitch them into a tour in 3DVista, Pano2VR, or Kuula. Many of these tools stop at an empty grey shell or put the useful output behind a paywall, so test before you commit. World models like World Labs' Marble can also generate explorable 3D scenes from images or text. They're great for mood, but they aren't dimensionally faithful to a plan.

If accuracy matters, and for pre-sales it usually does, the most reliable path is still traditional CGI with AI assistance. A visualizer models the building from the drawings in SketchUp, Revit, or Blender, then renders panoramas in Enscape, D5 Render, Twinmotion, or Unreal Engine. AI speeds up modeling, materials, and staging, while a human keeps the geometry honest.

A few things to tell your client up front. Floor plans are 2D, so ceiling heights, window sills, soffits, and stairs have to come from the elevations and sections. Provide the full drawing set, or the AI will guess. Finishes, fixtures, and window views will be invented unless you specify them, so an "artist's rendering" disclaimer is a must when marketing unbuilt units. And it won't be an actual Matterport tour, since Matterport requires a real capture. You'll host it on a panorama platform or the vendor's own viewer.

My recommendation: For speed, try Getfloorplan. For accuracy, go with a visualizer using Enscape or D5 and host the panoramas on a 360 tour platform. Either way, there's a nice upsell here. Deliver the pre-construction tour now, then capture the real Matterport tour once the building is finished.
