We typically shoot about 20-40 panos a week for the hospitality industry and a few other use cases. No complaints. I recognize others may have different techniques but this is what works for us and our clients.

I was expecting it to pop up near the area of the original scan but I was wrong. I was caught off guard and was a little frustrated. But then I found it and used the tool to place it near the location and processed it, it only took a second to align it and once processed it was perfect.

5 yearsBenAdgie (85): Between 8gb of ram and the M1 chip, I would expect any of these iPads would handle large scale Matterport scans. I had a problem in the past with lower RAM iPads crashing. An important difference with these models is that the 1TB and 2TB models have 16GB of RAM on board. If you commonly use the BLK360 or hopefully the next Pro3 can capture in full light and these higher memory and processing capabilities will be needed.

It's photographic quality is lower but you can do it in big jumps; or just use it sparsely to sort the black spots you're experiencing. Gaffers tape will work so it doesn’t pick up dirt or grime (which shows up on the nice carpet on the next shoot!) You are just going to move the camera and walk around it for the next 2 hours? They have always left. I did have one where the dog kept moving around and sleeping here or there. The owner was thrilled that Molly got to be parr of the scan.

I think that one has to differentiate between clients that only want upload into GSV versus others for whom the hosting and use of the Matterport showcase will be also useful. Also, the price matrix that I mentioned needs to be upwards adjusted in light of Matterport's upcoming charging for the conversion...

I've gotten way more referrals from Google Trusted Photographer's website than Matterport. In fact, I don't believe I have ever gotten any referrals from Matterport in the year and a half that I have owned the camera.

Sunday, I experimented by shooting a model apartment so I could learn how to photograph real estate better. I shot for both "Flambient" and HDR methods and then processed the images. Monday, we did work around the home.

I can't remember what the issue was with it, but they totally screwed up on that job. The client then decided to cancel the order because Matterport took too long to produce the floor plan. :O

7 yearsMetroplex360 (9436): I only ever use it for outside scans. When inside, the window tool acts as a trim tool and there's rarely a reason to use it. As Liam points out, the trim tool CAN remove mesh on the inside of the model, and that can be accomplished by using two opposing trim markers. This may, however, create a hole in the tour which may result in a 'black hole' effect when moving through the affected area. Mileage may vary on this trick.
