What's the best next-step camera after the Matterport Pro2?21631

| Hi everyone, I've been a real estate photographer for a number of years, working on everything from standard residential listings to occasional higher-end properties. I've been using a Matterport Pro2 for quite a while, and it has worked well for my business. On the surface, moving up to the Pro3 seems like the most straightforward upgrade path. That said, I've been watching a lot of videos and reading reviews lately, and it seems there are quite a few other systems and cameras worth considering as well. For those of you who have already made the jump from the Pro2, what did you end up choosing, and how has it worked out in real-world use? I'd especially be interested in hearing from people who considered multiple options before making a decision. Any feedback, lessons learned, or things you wish you had known beforehand would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

| Hi @Casey_Clark Thanks for posting the question! you're going to get a lot of Ford VS Chevy Answers probably. It depends on your main use cases I'd say, and what your clients want. I started with a pro2, moved to a pro3 then to iGUIDE. lately i've been using iGUIDE, Giraffe360, and Realsee Galois P4. They all have strengths and weaknesses. | @Casey_Clark it really depends on clientele, are you strictly shot residential and staying as a residential photographer. If your considering expanding into the architectural field now then that would be an option to consider now to. But prior to retiring my business I owned all 3 series of Matterport cameras. I did residential and commercial shoots, I also owned a Realsee camera and tested the new Realsee camera. For me hands down I would move to Realsee camera system. Prior to retiring I have been using Matterport since about 2013 and using LiDAR Scanner for about 17 years. I love photography but just got tired of agent BS and have solid retire so I could walk away. So if I was going to start again it would be Realsee even if your doing architecture it is so versatile. | ||

| I re-read your post this morning and saw you want input and advice on dependability, I was originally not going down this road but after thinking it thru I posted it before but will say it again. My first Pro3 camera needed to be replaced by Matterport under warranty for a drive motor issue. I thought great news, new camera replacement not a refurbished. I then got in a long dispute on where Pro3 models could be stored. I was originally told I could move my models to my classic account. That could not be done I sold my 2nd Pro 3 to Mike at Matterfix, Mike stated the camera Matterport replace my camera with was a refurbished camera, not a new one, that when I found out it was refurbished. The only reason this came up because when Mike was inspecting it for purchase he said the drive motor was going out on it. The only reason I was covered is it was still covered under my 2 year warranty. Never told that by Matterport. So my customer support from Matterport not there. But to be fair I had to buy a 3rd Pro3 used it for about 20 jobs 6 months then retired again sold it to Mike who is the best at Matterfix. On the other hand Realsee, after about 8 months I noticed my battery was only holding about 90% charge. I could not find how to just order one battery and asked customer support for the link to order just a single battery. Next thing I get is “no worries here” it was not the link for the battery is a tracking number. I said this is not the right thing, they said we shipped you a new battery free of charge. I shot a commercial building four stories with a unique layout. I also had to do it on 3 different days because of usage. When I finally sent the last model in for processing two of the 4 floors merged into one. The model was a mess, I was under a deadline for initial presentation. I contacted customer support they looked at the model well over 300 points, manually adjusted about 20-30 points until the model perfectly aligned. Sent me instructions on where I made my mistakes. Then sent me instructions on how to manually align scans in the future. This be way different than the customer service I received from Matterport. They did this on a Friday and Saturday and the model was ready for initial presentation on Monday. So also hands down different customer support is there. So yes would I go with Realsee, yes other than superb products for your deliveries a solid well built camera and great customer service. I also have used some of these other companies cameras, for what you get Realsee hands down better. |

Ron, really appreciate you sharing such detailed real-world experience. Coming from someone who’s used the Pro2, Pro3, and Realsee in both residential and commercial work, that kind of feedback carries a lot of weight. The part about getting help on a live project and having the model manually corrected before a deadline especially stood out to me. I’m still not sure whether the Credit Plan model is the right fit for my business, but after reading your experience with their support, I think it’s worth reaching out and having a conversation. |
