Hi all just received a warning from Matterport that the prices are going up for new clients but if you need to upgrade the number of spaces you will have to go to the new prices option.

Here is what you can see in there website:

Subscription Plan Changes in October 2026
Last updated Oct 8, 2026

Understanding your Legacy Plan
On October 8, 2026, we changed our subscription plan options available to new customers. We’ve consolidated our subscription plans into two new offerings: Professional and Enterprise. Our current plans will no longer be available to new customers and will now be called Legacy plans. Classic plans are remaining as they are today.

Why does my plan say Legacy?
If you subscribed between May 19, 2019, and October 8, 2026, your plan now has the word Legacy after it. This is to differentiate between the plans that are currently available for purchase on www.matterport.com/plans and our Classic plans which were available for purchase prior to May 19, 2019.

Can I keep my current plan?
Yes. As long as you keep your account active, you can keep using your current plan. You can also upgrade or downgrade to other Legacy plans. For example, if you currently have a Starter 10 monthly plan, you can upgrade to a Professional 20 monthly. To see what plan changes are available to you, log in to your account, go to Settings > Billing, and click Change Plan. From there, you can explore the available plans that are compatible with your current subscription type. Just make sure not to click Purchase Now or Confirm Plan Change unless you want to actually make the change, as your payment method will be charged. Our normal upgrade and downgrade policies apply.

If your subscription is canceled, whether you cancel it yourself or it’s canceled for nonpayment, you cannot resubscribe to a Legacy plan. To resubscribe, select one of the plans that are currently available on www.matterport.com/plans.

How does this change affect Classic plan subscribers?
We’re not changing anything about the features or prices for Classic plans with this change. As long as you keep your account active, you can keep using your Classic plan. If you want to upgrade or downgrade your subscription, you can switch to a Legacy plan, just like you would have previously.

If your subscription is canceled and you want to resubscribe, you’ll need to select from one of our new plans that are currently available on www.matterport.com/plans.

Are the features and prices changing for my current plan?
No, nothing is changing about the features or prices for your current plan with this change. As an existing customer, you can continue to enjoy your spaces and manage your account as you do today, at the same price and with no action required. Your plan will continue to renew on your current billing cycle. However, if your subscription is canceled and you want to resubscribe, you’ll need to select one of the plans that are currently available on www.matterport.com/plans.

Do I need to do anything?
No. As an existing customer, you can continue to enjoy your spaces and manage your account as you do today, at the same price and with no action required. Your plan will continue to renew on your current billing cycle.

Why is Matterport updating its terms?
We’re updating our terms (the Matterport Service Agreement or “MSA”) in connection with changes to our subscription plans and pricing, and we have also simplified these terms. The updated MSA consolidates previous agreements governing all of Matterport’s services and hardware into one single, streamlined online agreement that is easier to navigate and understand.

And all classic plan holders can breathe easy for a while. Thanks for posting.

I can confirm this.

As a Legacy customer you can still switch plans up or down at the old prices. The new pricing only applies to new customers, and to anyone whose subscription gets cancelled.

I would call this a "Continuity Move": keep your account active, and if you will need more spaces, size up now within Legacy.

Honestly, as an established provider I see this as a clear advantage.

I guess Matterport has learnt from the bad press they got when changing from classic to legacy. Making it clear from the beginning that there is an advantage to be earned from subscribing early on is the best promotion that the technology can offer.

So many clients seem to believe things will get cheaper or free if they wait. Clearly that is not the way.

Why not ask your local MSP how to get set up now?

All.. how will Matterport's new pricing pricing affect you?

@TomSparks - For me, the subscription price is only one part of the equation.

I have both a Classic and a Legacy plan. I actively use SDK-based solutions such as MPskin, SIMLAB and MPEmbed, and I have invested more than ten years in this platform - building knowledge, workflows and practical tricks that a newcomer will not have on the first day. I have worked on hundreds of productions and explored thousands of spaces. And I know many other solutions and platforms, too. I am actively comparing various workflows and solutions.

That accumulated expertise is where the real business value sits for me - not in scanning and hosting alone.

New customers and new providers do not have that foundation. Perhaps they do not need all of it either. But the platform they enter today is vastly more mature and complex than the one I started with.

Look at the complete workflow and how far each stage has developed over the years:

Capture → Processing → Post-production → Data → User Management/Hosting → Sharing/Integrations → Rescan/Archive

And then add the SDK and API layer on top! MPskin, SIMLAB, MPEmbed, Treedis or custom development. This adds another level of capability and complexity.

So what does the pricing change actually mean for my business? For me, it raises three questions.

1. How should I price my services?

Do I increase hosting fees? Do I reduce capture fees as the hardware investment becomes more affordable (2000 USD for a Pro3)? Or should more of my revenue come from integration, functionality and ongoing management rather than the initial scan and post-production?

2. How do I use my Classic and Legacy plans strategically — and what is their future?

Which projects belong in which account, and how do those plans support different client requirements and business models?

But there is another question: what does “Legacy” mean beyond keeping the existing pricing and features? Will these plans continue to receive new capabilities, or will some future developments be reserved for the new plan? If Matterport introduces 3DGS support, for example, would Legacy subscribers have access to it?

I see the continued protection of existing (classic) plans as a positive signal - a recognition of long-standing subscribers and their investment in the platform. The fact that Classic plans remain unchanged in this transition strengthens my confidence in their continuity. But continuity of a subscription and access to future features and innovations are two different things.

3. What is CoStar’s rationale?

Is this about increasing monetisation, funding further platform development, or repositioning Matterport’s pricing around the value of complete digital-twin solutions rather than basic virtual tours?

I do not know, but the answer matters for where I invest next - not just in subscriptions, but in integrations, development and client solutions.

For my business, the question is therefore not simply whether Matterport has become more expensive. It is how I combine ten years of expertise, my existing plans and the platform’s capabilities into solutions that clients will pay for.
