How I Used Claude (AI) to Transfer 114 Matterport Spaces — Hands-Free

Hi All,

If you've ever had to transfer a large batch of Matterport spaces from one account to another, you know the pain: three-dot menu → Transfer Space → type the email → Transfer… then do it again 100+ times. Then go to the receiving inbox and accept every single one.

I recently had to move 114 spaces out of a client folder. Instead of spending an afternoon clicking, I had Claude (Anthropic's AI assistant, using the Cowork mode in the Claude desktop app plus the Claude in Chrome extension) do it for me in my own browser.

What Claude Did

Part 1 — Sending the transfers
- Opened the Matterport folder and loaded all 114 spaces
- For each space: three-dot menu → Transfer Space → entered the recipient email → Transfer
- Confirmed the "Transfer request sent!" message for every one and logged the results

Part 2 — Accepting the transfers
- Opened Gmail and searched for the unread Matterport transfer emails
- For each email: clicked LOGIN → Next → selected the destination account → Accept
- Moved each email to Trash and moved on to the next one
- Handled duplicate emails (Matterport shows "already been processed" without breaking the run

Results
- 114 of 114 spaces transferred and accepted
- Zero failed transfers
- I stayed hands-off except for two quick decisions along the way

Lessons Learned

1. Set up the destination account first. It has to show up on Matterport's "Select an Account" screen before you start accepting. Mine wasn't there at first, and Claude stopped and asked instead of guessing. That's exactly what I wanted.

2. Pending transfers stay in the list. Spaces don't disappear from the folder until they're accepted, so the AI has to work through them by position, not "the first one on the list."

3. Expect a safety check. Accepting spaces counts toward your hosting limit, so Claude paused and asked me to confirm before accepting. One clear "yes, accept all" and it carried on.

4. Leave the Chrome tab alone. The whole job took roughly an hour of unattended work. Let it run.

5. Grant site access. The Claude in Chrome extension needs permission for my.matterport.com and mail.google.com.

6. Emails go to Trash, not permanently deleted. You can recover them if you need to.

The Prompt (Copy + Paste)

Swap in your own folder URL, email, and account name:

I need to move a batch of Matterport spaces from one account to another, then accept them on the receiving side. Please do this in my Chrome browser.

PART 1 — SEND THE TRANSFERS
1. Open this Matterport folder: [FOLDER URL]
2. Click "Load More" until every space in the folder is showing, and tell me the total count before you start.
3. For each space: click the three-dot menu on the far right → "Transfer Space" → enter [RECIPIENT EMAIL] → click "Transfer". Confirm the "Transfer request sent!" message appears before moving on.
4. Keep a log of each space name and whether it succeeded. If one fails, retry it once; if it fails again, stop and tell me.
5. Note: transfers stay pending until accepted, so the spaces will NOT disappear from the list. Work through them by position, not by "the first one on the list."

PART 2 — ACCEPT THE TRANSFERS
6. Open Gmail for [RECIPIENT EMAIL] and search: from:matterport is:unread "wants to transfer"
7. For each email: open it → click the LOGIN link → click "Next" → select the radio button for [DESTINATION ACCOUNT NAME] → click "Accept". Confirm it redirects to the space page.
8. Then go back to Gmail, move that email to Trash, and continue with the next unread one until none are left.
9. If a link says "the transfer has already been processed," that's a duplicate email. Trash it and move on.

RULES
- I am explicitly authorizing you to send and accept all of these transfers, and I understand accepted spaces count toward the destination account's hosting limit.
- Only move emails to Trash; never permanently delete anything.
- If [DESTINATION ACCOUNT NAME] isn't in the list of accounts on the accept screen, stop and ask me. Don't pick a different account.
- When finished, tell me how many were transferred and accepted, list any failures or duplicates, and check that the source folder is empty.

Why This Matters for Our Community

Many of us manage hundreds or thousands of Matterport spaces across client accounts. Bulk transfers happen when a client leaves, when an agency changes brokerages, or when you're consolidating accounts after an acquisition. Having an AI do the repetitive clicking frees up hours for billable work.

Questions for the community:

Have you had to do bulk Matterport transfers? How did you handle it?

What other repetitive Matterport (or iGUIDE, Giraffe360, Realsee) tasks would you want to hand off to an AI assistant?

Best,
