3D Capture Hardware and Software

Sony a7 V Firmware 2.00 Adds 32-Bit Float Audio, Preset Focus, and Authenticity Signing
Source: PetaPixel, May 20, 2026
Sony released free firmware v2.00 for the a7 V. The headline additions are 32-bit float audio with the new XLR-A4 adapter, Preset Focus support on select non-power-zoom lenses, and Write Digital Signature support for video as part of Sony's Camera Authenticity Solution. The update also drops in-camera lens firmware updating via card and improves stability.
Why it matters: Plenty of us shoot listing video and walkthroughs on the a7 V. The authenticity-signing piece is worth watching as AI-altered-image disclosure rules spread.

Why it matters: Insta360 moving upmarket with Leica optics signals where capture hardware quality is heading, and it is the brand most of our members already own.

Real Estate Tech and Platforms

Google Relaunches Home Listings Search in 8 Major Markets, Powered by HouseCanary
Source: Inman, May 18, 2026
Google is again showing real estate listings in mobile search, this time through data partner HouseCanary, with CRMLS, San Diego MLS, and My State MLS feeding inventory and eXp sending its active MLS listings plus NextHome. It is live in the Bay Area, LA, San Diego, New York, Austin, Chicago, Miami, and Cleveland. Listings appear under sponsored results with full detail pages, tour requests, and agent contact.
Why it matters: If Google becomes a listing surface, listing media quality gets judged on yet another high-traffic platform. Strong tours and photos travel further when a new portal-style channel opens up.

AI in Real Estate Photography and Tours

Captions App Exports 40,000 Real Estate Videos a Month as AI Video Takes Over Agent Marketing
Source: HousingWire, May 2026
AI video platform Mirage says its Captions app now exports roughly 40,000 real estate videos monthly, making real estate its largest user segment. Features include automated editing, captions, property tour tools, and Cappy, a texting-based AI editor launched in April that lets agents create and edit videos by sending prompts, photos, and clips to a phone number.
Why it matters: Agents shooting their own AI video is both a threat and an opportunity. The pros who package raw tour footage into ready-to-post AI video win the work the DIY tools cannot finish.
