Being asked to use my photos for a magazine...12756

simbany1 private msg quote post Address this user
I just got a voicemail from a designer/stager that was part of a project I took photos and a 360 tour for. She was asking to use some photos I took for a magazine article and wants to talk to see how we can collaborate. I'm pretty flattered, being that I'm fairly new to the biz but have no idea what the procedure is to give permission to use my photos and if there is supposed to be a fee?

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!!

Output the image as a PDF at 300 dpi. Instead of a fee you could ask for attribution such as...

From a very (long but) interesting article written by no other than THE Mike Kelley :
"Another situation that happens frequently is a company approaching me after the shoot to purchase (license) images. For this, I charge 10% of the original shoot fee for a general architecture license. So if the shoot comes to $2500, to purchase one photo is going to be $250. To purchase 3 would be $750, etc. "

Here's the full article : https://apalmanac.com/business/charge-architectural-photography-2019-718

Note that I don't think these prices are for print/publishing. Publishing fees usually depend on the number of copies published.

Here's another article with a few examples :

Keep us posted on what you decide, but please, do not give away your photo in exchange for just a mention (that SHOULD automatically be the case! "Photo credit by XYZ".
