Hi All,

As @JonJ has pointed out in another discussion, black holes in a scan are bad news because when you're looking at the 3D model, you have a hole in the floor and you could fly in right through the floor to the floor below.

The time to fix this problem is while scanning because you can't fix it after the model has been processed.

In the screen grab from my shoot going on now, I will simply circle back to do a couple more scans to make the black hole go away.

(T black hole is caused by sunlight coming in through the window and the camera's IF can not see it.)

Best,

Dan

P.S The We Get Around Atlanta team begins every project by using a Compass app. We want to know where the sun will be when to avoid this in the first place, if possible and practical...

@dansmigrod IR not IF

Surface heat that was caused by direct sunlight with the surface no longer in direct sunlight or IR/UV coatings to protect a surface, can also affect capture and cause holes or scan fails. Unlike just closing a blind for a scratch scan, these can be much more difficult to correct, though they usually are outdoors and time dependent.

Surface coatings may cause scans to fail or black holes at anytime.

Th Pro2 appears to fill areas that may have small black holes, after upload from capture. (i.e. walls and floors)

Some more details would be great if the Pro2 is really better with this issues.

I have a nice example here, where on the balcony the cam totally failed ;-(

It was captured during a cloudy day without any direct sunlight.
The floor on the balcony is exact the same, as in the balcony indoor area.

10 deutsche marks say that balcony wood is covered with an IR/UV coating.
