Would you deliver these multi-angle virtual staging photos to a client?21701

Hi everyone!

I’m Roderick, the founder of Virtual Staging Flow.

I’m working on virtual staging for multiple photos of the same room. The goal is to keep the furniture and layout consistent when the camera moves, while preserving the actual room.

I’d like your feedback as working real estate photographers. Below are the original and staged photos of one room from different angles.

Original:

Staged:

Would you deliver this set to a client? If not, what is the first thing you would ask me to fix?

It could be furniture that seems to move between photos, something about the room that has changed, or simply a detail that doesn’t look convincing. Pointing to a specific image and spot would really help.

I’d also be interested to know whether clients typically ask you to stage multiple views of a room, or just one main shot.

You don’t need to sign up to give feedback here. I’ll follow up in this thread with what I learn and any changes I make.

Thanks,
Roderick

Thanks for pointing that out! I’ll work on my photography and make sure the verticals are straight next time. Aside from that, do you see anything else that needs improvement, particularly with the virtual staging itself?

@3dVuz ah yes, verticals have to be straight, but I think this is a great example of how it works with any photo.

I didn't really mind the staging however, framing of the images is another story this shoot could have really used an aspherical wide-angle lens

I have a variety of vacant new construction homes if you are looking for a better base to showcase the virtual staging

Sometimes a space needs a bit more of a retro styled staging

Thank you! Your photography is professional, and the staging looks fantastic too! If you'd like to try out a new tool, I'd be happy to give you some free credits to use.

I am not a fan of credit based systems ~ I currently have 2 flat fee based AI systems that can handle 65-70% of my staging needs and the remainder I have a person that delivers for not much more than the final per image cost on your multi-angle ai staging

Fair enough — sounds like you’ve found a setup that works well for you.

Out of curiosity, would you mind sharing which two flat-fee AI tools you’re using?

@roderick so, I use ChatGPT a fair bit along with autorender which was initially targeted towards builder/architects but after a few conversions with the co-founder they are now pushing pretty heavily into real estate for agents and photographers

Oh, AutoRender looks interesting — thanks for sharing! Since you use both, I’m curious: for single-photo staging and editing, what do you find AutoRender does better or makes easier than ChatGPT? I’d love to understand how you use the two together.

AutoRender is higher resolution than ChatGPT until recently I had been primarily using ChatGPT to write my prompt for AutoRender ~ now it has been kind of project dependent as I do a lot of new construction and a fair clip of "To-be-built" in which AutoRender really pulls ahead

@lilnitsch Thanks for explaining! Beyond the higher resolution, what makes AutoRender stand out for your new construction and to-be-built projects? I’d love to understand what you’re aiming for in the final images(or videos?) and how AutoRender helps you get there.

@lilnitsch That makes sense, thanks for sharing the examples. I’m curious: for a typical to-be-built project, what do you usually give AutoRender as input? Is it mainly construction photos plus reference images/renderings, or architectural plans as well?

@roderick

Really depends on the project budget/timeline I have gone from elevation to image ~ If time and budget permit I actually have a team that can go from construction set to fully rendered Matterport tour, stills, & video

Most stand out change I can see is the plant on the coffee table moved to the other side of the bowl and book stack. Plant used on the TV stand and end table look to be the same. Some agents question the work as lazy when they have seen the same furniture or accessories used in the same batch of photo staging.

Your furniture fits well into the size of the room displayed. I would take up @lilnitsch on his offer for some photos to stage or I can offer a few empties with some better light and straight walls to try out.

Toughest part with controlling staging with an editor has been overlapping rooms. Then asking for an edit from oversees costs a lot of lost time stalling and the agent gets impatient.

Example:
Agent wants a shot of the Living room. Nothing staged on the back patio leaving lots of blank canvas.
Or
Dining Room stages nicely and living room doesn't match up to the living room furniture.

I gave up on AI programs for a bit. Tell the system what you want and it adds doors to walls that never existed. Can't get it to go back, it creates a bigger mess. So if agent wants a decorative piece removed, things can go real bad. False belief of control.

Agents seem to average ordering about 3-5 staged photos due to cost. Master bed, Living room, Dining, kitchen and one more like a loft, kids room or patio have been the trend. Multi angle would be nice on our part for consistency. Sometimes, that couch needs to be seen in the kitchen shot the agent requested to use. When we get comfortable with staging like this, our conversations can be a little more confident in upselling multiangle shots once the overlap is tied down.

Thanks, this is really helpful! Good catch on the plant moving, and I see what you mean about reusing the same accessories. The adjoining-room examples are exactly the kind of thing I’d like to test more.

I’d love to try a few of your empty-room photos, a couple of angles with adjoining rooms in view would be great. Feel free to send me some photos, thank you!

@lilnitsch

Thank you so much for sending these photos over. Honestly, your photography is already stunning — way beyond what I expected. These are fantastic photos, and they’ve been incredibly helpful for testing. I really appreciate it.

And thank you as well to @VTLV, who also sent me a bunch of photos privately to test with. I’m genuinely very grateful to both of you.

I’ve been pretty focused the last few days on improving this part of the product. One thing @VTLV mentioned about keeping adjoining rooms consistent really stuck with me, so I built a new workflow specifically around that use case.

I’ve now released this as a new feature called Stage Adjoining Rooms.

I used some of the photos you sent me, @lilnitsch, to test the new workflow and rendered several of them. I also exported the results in 5K.

I’d love to hear what you both think — especially about the consistency between the adjoining spaces and the overall render quality.

Does this look usable to you? Anything you’d want me to improve?

And if either of you would like to test Stage Adjoining Rooms yourselves, I’d be happy to add some free credits to your accounts so you can evaluate it with your own projects.

(Just send me the email address you used to register, at virtualstagingflow.com)

Thanks again for helping me test this with real-world photos.

Here are the results rendered using the new Stage Adjoining Rooms feature.

I’ve included both 5K exports and 6K exports. I noticed your original photos are 6K × 4K, so I also exported a 6K version to better match the original resolution.

@lilnitsch

That looks really good — honestly, you got some impressive results out of ChatGPT. Nice work.

And if you run into anything ChatGPT struggles with, especially around multi-angle consistency, adjoining rooms, or keeping a whole set of photos consistent, there’s a chance we may be able to help.
