I sat down with Brandon Cooper, owner of PMRE (Photo and Media for Real Estate), to talk about the industry's biggest annual gathering and where the real estate media business is heading. Brandon traces the full story. He discovered PFRE (Photography for Real Estate) as a resource around 2011, bought the blog from founder Larry Lohrman in 2018, and launched the first conference in Las Vegas in November 2019 with a little over 300 people from about 12 countries. As the industry shifted from photography to full media solutions, the event rebranded from PFRE to PMRE in 2022, then moved to the Palms in 2024. He explains why the event stays in Vegas, and it comes down to logistics: flight access from everywhere, backup vendors, and negotiated Palms room rates starting around 104 dollars a night when other cities were quoting triple that.

We got into what is new for year eight. There is an expanded Giraffe360 theater session added alongside the returning Fotello session, the Cubicasa party moving to a two-story sky villa with a pool overlooking the strip, three lunch and learns from AutoHDR, Aryeo, and HDPhotoHub, and extended vendor hours in the Green Street room. Brandon also shared the new PMRE Retreat, a smaller curated experience that ran in Cancun with 24 people, plus community software in the works to keep attendees connected year round.

The second half is a candid industry conversation. Brandon breaks the market into three segments and argues the middle is getting squeezed, walks through how AI is reshaping editing and pricing, and makes the case that relationships and customer service are the one thing AI cannot disrupt. We traded real stories on pricing discipline, same-day delivery, and why winning on price means eventually losing on price.
