![]() GEO WEEK is a We Get Around Network Marketing Partner Geo Week has opened applications for the 2027 GEO Empower Event Scholarship, a program for university students in the United States who want to apply geospatial, surveying, mapping, and 3D technology to social and environmental problems. If you mentor students, teach, or hire, this is worth forwarding. Applications are due October 30. Now in its third year, the scholarship covers the parts that usually keep students home. Recipients get a full conference pass, hotel accommodation, a travel stipend, and onsite mentorship. Winners are recognized at a scholarship presentation at the show and get time with industry leaders and hands on product demos on the floor. Geo Week is also building the program out into a broader set of Workforce Development Initiatives. Central to that is the Geo Week Workforce Development Committee, a volunteer advisory body of geospatial professionals, educators, and advocates who will help shape content, career development, and student outreach. Companies can back the effort through tiered Workforce Development Sponsorships that fund and expand the scholarship directly. Lora Burns, Senior Marketing Manager at Geo Week, framed the problem plainly: "Demand for geospatial talent is growing faster than qualified graduates entering the field." That gap should sound familiar to anyone here who has tried to hire a scan tech or train a second operator. Geo Week runs February 23 to 25, 2027 at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
