FYI: Aryeo is calculating your sales tax wrong21601

Was going over my books and had a lot of invoices that were a penny off and figured out why. Aryeo is calculating their sales tax off line item by line item instead of off the subtotal. Not sure why they're doing this, and it only equates to a penny on my invoices, but thought I'd give anyone who uses it a heads up as well. Just sent them a message saying this doesn't make since because when I file my quarterly sales tax it's based off my total taxable revenue and not broke down line item by line item. Not only that, but that's not even how it's represented on the invoices. All items are added up for your subtotal, then sales tax applied for your grand total. It's NOT item + sales tax, item + sales tax, item + sales tax, = grand total.

Am I completely off on this, or does this seem like a backwards way of doing it?

@JasonZ That's interesting... I wasn't a math major, I would have assumed that if you're charging on line item or subtotal that tax would equal the same, I guess it doesn't. Have you reached out to them and ask? maybe a bug they can fix.

@TomSparks Yea, it's just how they designed their system to work. Not sure why. They've passed on my comlaint to the engineering team, but no guarentees. I've never seen it done that way. In the end it's only a penny on maybe 75% of my invoices which doesn't even add up to a dollar every quarter. So it's not like my sales tax bill catches me off guard, lol. I just personally keep a spread sheet to track my profit margin and was annoyed my calculations are a penny off here and there. I'll just keep tracking and adjusting sales tax manually.
