| I’ve been researching different CRE virtual tour workflows and would appreciate advice from anyone in the network providing a similar service. My current workflow is: * Capture using a Ricoh 360 camera * Create the virtual tour in Matterport * Have an external provider generate floor plans from the Matterport tour * Convert the tour into Google Street View * Potentially take the next step of importing the Google Street View tour into GoThru to create a client-hosted tour solution that owners can host themselves in perpetuity The issue I’m finding is cost, and that the process becomes reasonably time-consuming, particularly with larger commercial spaces where the Ricoh workflow is not ideal. Capture quality and scan efficiency also become limitations in bigger industrial or retail environments. I’m interested in hearing how others in the network are approaching: * CRE virtual tour workflows * Floor plan production * Long-term/self-hosted delivery solutions for clients * Google Street View integration * Large-space scanning efficiency * Recommended hardware/software stacks At present I’m considering upgrading to a Matterport Pro3, mainly due to the LiDAR capability and improved performance in larger commercial spaces. Would be interested to know: - What camera systems people are using for commercial work - Whether people are still heavily using Matterport hosting, or moving toward self-hosted/client-owned solutions - Best software stack for scalable CRE delivery - Whether anyone has found a more efficient workflow for floor plans + virtual tours + GSV publishing in one ecosystem |

| The Ricoh is difficult to get accurate plans from. You’ll be much happier with the Pro3. | ||

| @avanti_ Have you looked at the new Realsee camera and system? The old camera was similar to the Pro3 but the new camera specs are very amazing. They provide everything you’re asking for. | ||

| @avanti_ which Ricoh camera are you using? The Pro3 is a great camera for Matterport's ecosystem. I have a ricoh and a pro3 and if i'm doing a matterport tour i'm using the pro3 all day. for all commercial, hospitality, etc type work we ALWAYS use the Pro3, nothing else, when customers are requesting matterport tours. There's other players in the game. Giraffe360, iGuide, Realsee. I think getting companies to forget about the Matterport brand and adopt these newer solutions has been a challenge in the past but is becoming easier as time goes on. |

| @TomSparks @ron0987 Thanks for the responses. I’m using a Z1 and migrating to a LiDAR camera is the obvious next step. I have been interested in the Realsee system for a while but (similar to Matterport) there doesn’t seem to be an offline way to store the tours for later viewing by clients without ongoing costs, unless I’m missing something? |

| @avanti_ I may be wrong but when I did Realsee there is an off line option, I think you need to talk with them. I just checked projects can be saved locally. |

| @avanti_ With Realsee they charge credits for processing I believe, no recurring hosting fees. am pretty sure you can download a tour to reference/use offline. from what I remember the last time I used their platform. | ||

| @avanti_ one other thing to consider is 2D or 3D scanning more beneficial for what your looking for Iguide a I believe Giraffe are both 2D scanning and Pro3 and Realsee are 3D scanning. I also agree with Tom moving away from MP may be a challenge but I still think these other companies are now more progressive at this time. I hope this helps and 2D elevation is good enough then Giraffe360 is a great option just not sure about off line capabilities. | ||

| @ron0987 The strict technical definition A true 3D virtual tour camera captures depth data alongside imagery, producing a navigable 3D model (tour, floor plan, measurements) — not just stitched panoramas. That requires either: LiDAR / time-of-flight sensors (Matterport Pro2/Pro3, iGUIDE PLANIX, Giraffe360, Realsee) Structured light / infrared depth (older Matterport Pro2 uses this) Photogrammetry from multiple known camera positions (some software-based solutions) By this definition: Matterport (Pro2, Pro3) and iGUIDE (PLANIX), Giraffe360, and Realsee are 3D cameras. They build a spatial model with real measurements. |

| @TomSparks i should have been clear i was just talking pointcloud data, some architects like the pointclouds for modeling. You can get that from every MP model but if you run thru pointcloud comparison software you will see the most accurate pointcloud will be generated from the Pro3 or Realsee cameras. | ||

| @ron0987 I wish I knew more about how to compare the point clouds. You can get one from Giraffe360 too. i'd love to post a video comparing all! maybe one day soon | ||

| @TomSparks we will have to agree and a topic for another day. They all create point clouds, we do not disagree on that. They are all developed differently, we do have to agree on that, the only place I think we may disagree and I am not sure we do, is a difference in understanding or my use of 2d and 3D terminology. | ||

| @ron0987 Matterport has minor recognition here in Australasia (NZ and Au). Practical solutions reign supreme. The blood to visualise a space in 360 at any time regardless of immersive or not is what’s most important. Hence the Google Street view component to my workflow. | ||
