Elevation drawings from point cloud scans21528

RichardDofthreedvt private msg quote post Address this user
Hi Guys, we scan with a pro2 Matterport and I was looking at a site where someone was scanning a building and producing floorpans (just as we do) but they were also producing elevation drawings.
So my question is firstly, is this something which can be done by Matterport in the same way that you would request floorpans? If so, could this be done with a Pro2 camera or would it need to be a Pro3 or more specialised camera?
If this isn't a service available from Matterport would I need to import the point cloud data from a scan into something like Revit to produce the elevation drawing from there?

Thanks,

Richard

@RichardDofthreedvt Hi Richard.. welcome to the forum. There's companies like GeoBiro that offer scan-to-bim services and can do elevations. The Pro3 is probably ideal from an accuracy/measurement point of view but you may get away with having it done from a pro2.
Hope this helps!

@richarddofthreedvt We purchase the MatterPak from Matterport. Then forward that file to Baezeni. They then produce Cad files and PDF files that can include elevations among other requests. Ask for Bach, he was great to work with and turnaround time was a couple days. Very affordable. You won’t need a BIM file for what you are looking for

if you only need 2d elevations, then there is no need to take it to Revit. You can save 2d orthographic image of the pointcloud in Cloudcompare and then import it into Autocad, where you can trace over the elevations. I do that for all my projects. If you need assistance, then please get in touch
