Best Platforms for Large-Scale Virtual Tours (Matterport + Drone 360s)21393

rodrigocastillo private msg quote post Address this user
Hi everyone,

I’m planning a virtual tour for a 2,700-acre property with five main buildings/zones (a resort in the pacific) and I’m looking for real examples, workflows, or platform suggestions for projects of this scale.

My plan is to combine different capture types into a single experience:

Matterport (interior walkthroughs) for the main buildings

Drone 360 / aerial panoramas to show site scale, circulation, and context across the acreage

Custom navigation (menus, zone selectors, tags, hotspots, scene-based routing)

Branding / UI customization so the whole experience feels cohesive

I know 3DVista is one good option, but I’d love to hear about other approaches — such as combining tools, custom web builds, alternative platforms, integrations, or plugins.

If you’ve built or seen something similar, please share links, platform names, or insights. Thanks!

Great question. It will be interesting to hear from the WGAN community on this topic.

I am sharing an amazing, large-scale case-study from Kevin Dole (@Home3D) using various digital assets built on top of 3DVista.

This project checks all your boxes you mentioned (and more):

-- Matterport (interior walkthroughs) for the main buildings
-- Drone 360 / aerial panoramas to show site scale, circulation, and context across the acreage
-- Custom navigation (menus, zone selectors, tags, hotspots, scene-based routing)
-- Branding / UI customization so the whole experience feels cohesive

Happy holidays,

Dan

I did a large 300 acre site with numerous buildings as well as outdoor trails. I also struggled with this. Ideally something that can easily blend MP and regular 360 pano/drone work.

Kevin Dole delivered some masterpieces with 3DVista. But be aware that this is a lot of work and needs code and skills.

Another good platform is MPSkin - the Matterport SDK overlay - where you get it all in one system. Multiple tours in one menu. Integration of 360 drone images into the experience - 360# also as starting image.

@rodrigocastillo

Kevin also partners with other service providers:

1. service provider creates all content and has the client relationship
2. Home3D.us creates the 3DVista tour using allthe content provided by the service provider
3. service provider does not need to know/learn 3DVista

Does that help?

Happy holidays,

Dan

Realsee is another option this is a short sample combine drone and tour outside of 3Dvista.

The link was not working but I repaired it and now it is working. But Realsee gives you the capability to create the entire aerial and walk thru in one platform. Kevin does create an assume model and I have not see anything better than his.

I found this to be a little simpler taking one drone shot and one walk thru model. But I could have added a walk thru for any other building and if I would have flown the drone higher could have cover even more area.

Thanks everyone for all the input and for taking the time to share examples and ideas — I really appreciate it.

What Kevin is doing is really, really impressive. I’ve saved all the examples that were shared here, and we’ll be researching them more in depth over the next few days.

Realsee also seems like a very solid option, and we’ll definitely be looking into that as well.

Thanks again to everyone who contributed.
