ChatGPT4 + Bing: Compare Matterport Pro2/Pro3 Cameras For Outdoor Scanning

Hi All,

I asked ChatGPT4 + Bing: compare the matterport Pro2 camera with the matterport Pro3 camera

ChatGPT4 + Bing Replied:

... Here’s a comparison between the Pro2 and Pro3 regarding outdoor scanning:

Scanning Technology:

Pro2: Utilizes structured light (infrared) 3D sensor technology for scanning. This technology may have limitations when used outdoors, especially in bright sunlight which can interfere with infrared sensors1.
Pro3: Employs LiDAR scanning technology, which is typically more robust for outdoor use as it can function well in a variety of lighting conditions. LiDAR sends out laser beams to measure distances, which can be less affected by bright sunlight compared to infrared sensors2.

Range and Accuracy:

Pro2: Has a maximum scanning range of 15 feet (4.5 meters), which might limit its outdoor scanning capabilities, especially for larger areas1.
Pro3: Can capture up to 100 meters for use in E57 and BIM files, and up to 20 meters for processed models. This extended range makes it more suitable for outdoor scanning tasks, especially in large open spaces3.

Adaptability:

Pro2: Primarily designed for indoor scanning, with limited adaptability for outdoor conditions.
Pro3: Designed to provide highly accurate digital twins of both indoor and outdoor spaces, indicating a better adaptability for outdoor conditions4.

Scanning Speed:

Pro3: Has a faster sweep time compared to Pro2, which might be beneficial in outdoor environments where conditions can change rapidly (e.g., lighting changes due to cloud movement). The Pro3 completes a sweep in less than 20 seconds, which is faster than the Pro2's 20 seconds scan time31.

Summary:

The Pro3, with its LiDAR technology, extended scanning range, and designed adaptability for both indoor and outdoor spaces, stands out as a more suitable choice for outdoor scanning tasks. The faster scanning speed of Pro3 is also a plus in varying outdoor conditions. On the other hand, the Pro2, with its structured light technology and shorter scanning range, may face challenges in outdoor environments, particularly in bright sunlight or large open spaces.

ChatGPT4 + Bing actually described a Matterport technology provided shoot as a "digital twin"?

Interesting....I figured that was a trademarked or copyrighted description from Matterport itself but apparently it's now considered and incorporated into the AI lexicon world as a real word now? Huh....
