Can I Mix LiDAR and 360 scans in the same Matterport tour?18268

If I do a lidar backbone and then add 360 scans, does it help or hurt measurement accuracy?

@Olegred if you start with LiDAR why would switch? LiDAR would be the most accurate.

@Olegred
If you intend downloading the MatterPak, E57 Files, or BIM, you cannot have any 360 input.
All scans must be from a Pro2, Pro3, Leica BLK360, or a mixture of these units.

Lidars are bulky and slow.

To be honest 360s are my weapon of choice unless I have to pull out full set. They are quick and efficient. I can san a place three times faster. Low light and cluttered spaces are a problem, of course.

Which 360 do you use?

Can you explain the purpose and use of those packages? I am quite dumb, so, simplify.

Ha Ha
There is no dumb!

MatterPaks and E57 files are two versions of files you can pay to get from your models and architects and engineers can upload them to their design programmes.

Saves the person a heap of time running around with a laser measure, notebook, and camera to measure a building, snd another heap of time putting all the information into their design programme.

The BIM Files are similar for specialist cases.

Especially useful where a building is being refurbished.

The demand for this can only increase hugely in the future.

Is there a sample matterpak or e57 file that I can look at? Which programs do you use to look at those?

Hi @Olegred,
You need a design programme to open them.
In this country a lot of engineers and architects use Revit, and there is a Matterport plugin for Revit.
It is not straightforward however, Revit and its sibling softwares are not easy to pick up, so it is not a case of loading the files and having a look.
If you know an architect or engineer who uses the programmes it would be a lot easier to ask them to demonstrate how it works.
