About the Role:

Matterport is seeking a supplier quality Leader who can bring exceptional skills in production quality, supplier quality assurance, and vendor management to our fast growing company. This person will work within the Manufacturing and Supply Chain organization with members of product engineering and manufacturing to establish and manage a robust supply chain and address supply issues.
This position requires a blend of technical and analytical ability, strong verbal and written communication skills and a high degree of professional acumen. It requires the ability to operate with autonomy, comfort in making and driving decisions, and taking proactive steps to drive improvement and reduce risk.

Responsibilities

▶ Manage Matterport factory quality, including IQC, OQC, NCM/MRB for process/part quality and RMAs.
▶ Implementing and maintaining necessary processes and controls to ensure supply of components, subsystems, and assemblies meets quality specifications and requirements, particularly around optical systems.
▶ Develop strong partnerships with suppliers and ensure that best practices are implemented across engineering, manufacturing, and business channels.
▶ Lead supplier development activities by conducting reviews and visiting supplier sites focusing on developing and implementing process improvements within the supplier processes to minimize non-conformances.
▶ Work with Matterport Engineering and Manufacturing to ensure manufacturing processes and tests are implemented correctly at suppliers.
▶ Review / audit / develop supplier’s manufacturing processes and quality systems for ongoing production and new part introduction.
▶ Evaluate supplier defects, determine appropriate disposition actions, and initiate communication to supplier and internal customers.
▶ Establish and maintain reporting on quality benchmarks and metrics for measuring efficiencies and effectiveness of supplier performance.Implement and monitor part certification, qualification, and PPAP.
▶ Review and approve tool, fixture and part design; ability to evaluate T0, T1, etc. samples.
▶ Active engagement with the design team to establish requirements
▶ Ensure proper engineering change implementation
Work with Product Quality to close SCARs with structured closed loop corrective actions (8D, 5 Why, etc.)Works with R&D in conjunction with suppliers on New Product Introduction (NPI) projects.
▶ Perform and maintain product/process risk analysis and ensure mitigations are implemented and effective (Supplier Process FMEA)Lead investigations for “Factory Escapes” (defects identified after Receiving Inspection) to determine appropriate prevention methods are implemented.

Requirements

▶ 8+ years of experience in volume manufacturing, quality or engineering in an electro-mechanical environment with outsourced/off-shore manufacturing and suppliers.
▶ Demonstrated expertise in manufacturing, testing, and assembly of optical systems and assemblies (e.g. image sensors, lenses, etc).
▶ Should be also familiar with sheet and cast metals, plastic injection molding, and/or PCBA’s.
Preference for bilingual English and Mandarin, spoken and written.Understanding of ISO Quality System standards
Knowledge of FMEA, Control Plans, Flow Charts, SPC, MSA, Capacity Analysis, GR&R, PPAP, and other statistical analysis.
▶ Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing and assembly plant processes, procedures, facilities and equipment
▶ Ability to support design reviews with good understanding of GD&T and Key Characteristics (Safety / Critical Characteristics)
▶ Ability to work with and develop quality performance metrics (i.e. FTQ, scrap rate, PPM, OTD, Efficiency)Experience with New Product Development and Introduction, including verification and validation.
▶ Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to clearly articulate requirements, status, and objectives
