Question of the Day: Your thoughts about Matterport Space Search Feature?

Hi All,

The WGAN Forum Question of the Day for Monday, 25 April 2022:

Your thoughts about Matterport Space Search Feature?

This WGAN Question of the Day was inspired by a recent Matterport Blog post:

"To use [Matterport] Space Search, simply click the magnifying glass icon located in the top left corner of your digital twin and type your search query. The tool will pull up results across several data elements within your digital twin...[MatterTags, Notes, Labels, Measurements]"

It’s a great feature. It unfortunately makes my Mpembed tag menues on most of my more in depth tours kind of obsolete.

On the other hand it’s not intrinsic in most cases and unless you know what to look for and what the magnifier icon means it’s kind of lost on the audience.

The idea of opening a menu from an icon is a step in the right direction. Especially when thinking about smart phone UI. Perhaps the expandable menu would be better on smartphone while on desktop have it expanded at default and have the option to collapse instead?

@Meidansha I agree with you. I like the MPEmbed route. This search facility is not intuitive. I have switched it off on my MPEmbed tours.
