Matterport Axis Smartphone Rotator Wish List (For Next Generation)

Hi All,

Got a "Wish List" item for the Matterport Axis? Please add below.

I will start it off.

1. Add a bubble measure to the top so that when you are going up stairs - and have two legs on one stair and one leg on another stair - you know if the tripod is level.

2. Re-write paper instructions to match best practices workflow (and height of tripod with new tripod.)

3. Include a multi cable connector. This problem was first identified by @Dataventurer in this related WGAN Forum discussion.

4. Upgrade the (disposable) tripod. Here's my suggestion. (As @lilnitsch first identified in this related WGAN Forum discussion:

While the price is nice - $10 Matterport Axis Add On for the tripod - I would not want to risk my $1,000 iPhone 13 Pro (except for my first Matterport Axis test) and watched it like a hawk.

I think a small speaker on the device would be nice to notify when the scan is complete

Or a louder motor

Hmmmmm... I am confused.

I hear the "complete" sound when I use my iPhone 13 Pro and have the sound turned up.

Perhaps you have the sound turned off inside the Matterport Capture app?

Yes. So why would you want the sound to come from the Matterport Axis instead?

@DanSmigrod

I believe either a louder motor or some sort of noise from the device would just be a nice aid as to not walk into a shot and have to start the process over.

This is the latest type of cable designed for faster data transfer and speedier charging

I would like to see a two axes rotator similar to Insidemaps so that it only goes around once and capture everything needed. That rotator is only a few hundred dollars, so it is also inexpensive and does a great job.

One other thing not sure how long battery last, again comparing to Insidemaps the battery can be easily changed and it also allows to you to connect to iPhone to keep it charged. Replacement batteries are only about $10 so you can easily own several batteries.
