9to5Mac (21 April 2020) Everywhere the Apple Maps Look Around ‘street view’ feature works so far

"Maps offers interactive street-level imagery with high-resolution, 3D photography and smooth and seamless transitions through major cities with Look Around. Explore select cities with an interactive 3D experience that gives you a 360‑degree view of a place. And enjoy smooth and seamless transitions as you navigate your way around," reports 9to5 Mac.

According to 9to5Mac:

If you want to try out Look Around, visit one of these areas in the Apple Maps app on iPhone, iPad, or Mac:

San Francisco
Las Vegas
Honolulu and Oahu
New York City
Houston
Boston
Philadelphia
Washington D.C.
Los Angeles
Chicago

Apple promoting 360º Look Around is a great thing for 3D/360 content creators.

Your thoughts?

Dan, I think it’s a good idea. When company’s like Google Street View or Matterport have little to no competition I believe the companies are not pushed to move forward with research or development.

Look at for example Nikon and Canon, every time you turn around something new, one company pushing the other.

I do not see that competition with either MP or GSV and I just don’t see any push even from inside either company to really stay the best other than limited to no competition.

It would be a different story if they came out with new ideas and strive to be the best for that reason.

There has always been a running joke with Canon and Nikon owners joking with each other about which equipment is the best which in reality is the respect photographs have for the equipment which we don't have with Matterport or GSV.
