Matterport Service Providers: What Doesn’t Kill You, Makes You Stronger

Hi All,

When 19th century German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche said – and Pop Star Kelly Clarkson sang – “What doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger,” may have been prophetic thinking about the fate of Matterport Service Providers in context to the worldwide coronavirus pandemic.

I could imagine that you are either as busy as you have ever been or already staying home and trying to figure-out how to make a living.

Stay home may mean different things to Matterport Service Providers:

✓ no income (and applied for unemployment insurance)
virtualizing your business to offer services from home
✓ learning – either hands-on and by video – new 3D/360 hosting software/platforms and 3rd Party Tools for after the pandemic
✓ developing business (via social media, email marketing and by phone) for your new virtualized services or for after the pandemic

Some of you will be lucky that your spouse is either employed (or self-employed) and/or you can work from home to provide income for your household. And, some of you are solely dependent on your real estate photography; including Matterport and related visual storytelling services.

In the last few weeks, I have talked with many Matterport Service Providers about the impact of the pandemic, including these MSPs:

United States – has five Matterport Pro2 3D Cameras - slammed with business
Canada – Shelter in Place – applied for unemployment insurance
New Zealand – has five Matterport Pro2 3D Cameras and a BLK360 – Shelter in Place – no onsite business. Busy virtualizing his business.
United Kingdom – was Sheltering in Place even before the order (because his wife likely got the coronavirus from him (because he was busy scanning)
United States – a restoration business with a Matterport Pro2 3D Camera – referral business for mitigation and remediation dropped off of a cliff. Trying to keep his sales person busy pitching real estate agents Matterport scans instead and partnering with an experienced Matterport Pro to handle the back-end production.
United States – team busy doing photos and videos of listings
United States – phone ringing off the hook from desperate agents seeking Matterport 3D Tours for the first time. Busy getting the scans done.

Whether you are slammed creating Matterport tours or sheltering in place with zero income, it’s obvious to all of us that 2020 is the year of innovation and adoption. 2020 is the year that real estate agents embraced technology – including Matterport 24/7 Open House Virtual Tours – powered by the coronavirus.

And, now that real estate agents have been forced to embrace technology during the pandemic, Matterport 24/7 Open House Virtual Tours will continue to be in demand long after the 2020 pandemic is behind us.

Innovation and now: adoption.

What doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger.

Stay healthy,

Dan
