Hi All,

A WGAN Member emailed me (below) and my reply.

Best,

Hi Dan,

My business is just starting to get off the ground.

My question is this, if I scanned a condo and have some tight to corner lower scans that I will use for photos, can I first make a copy of the scanned condo, then create photos from the locations mentioned, then order those photos, then download then, and then delete those photo locations from the other copy, then create the walkthrough using the copy I have deleted the tight corner scans from.

This way I won't have to have the tight corner scans in the walkthrough as they would be already down loaded from the copy.

So I would have down loaded photos from the first scan to send to the realtor and a walkthrough from the scan copy without needing to keep the tight corner scans as I have found I can't delete scan locations that become part of the photo gallery of a scan.

Does this make sense to you. Please advise.

Hello [Redacted],

Thank you for reaching out.

Congrats on your Matterport business getting traction.

About the workaround workflow that you suggest, THIS MAKES NO SENSE and is EXACTLY the WORKFLOW that you - we - need to do.

We (all) wish that Matterport would fix this problem. We should be able to hide scans in the walk around experience that are used as SnapShots (but not used in the Highlight Reel).

Fixing this would save a ton of time and avoid a very convoluted workflow (that you documented perfectly above).

Anyone else have thoughts on this topic?

Best,

Dan

Why can't you get your snapshots, download them, then hide the scans?

@3SixtyNow

I recall that you can not hide a scan that has been used as a SnapShot.

Am I incorrect? If so, then no need to duplicate the model. Simply Hide Scan.

I recall that you can not hide a scan that is used in Matterport Highlight Reel.

@DanSmigrod
I just took this snapshot and downloaded it. I was able to hide the scan it came from. I didn't delete it from my workshop either.

@3SixtyNow

Awesome!

Your recommendation completely changes my reply.

No need to duplicate the model: simply hide the "special scans" that were shot solely for exporting photos.

(If you use a scan in Highlight Reel, you can not Hide it.)

Thanks,

Dan
