1 monthron0987 (2791): I have only tried Matterport the one time for floorplans. I used a Pro3 camera and one house, inside and out. Ordered the floorplan and found several errors on the plan, both dimensions and square footage. This is the one and only time I used them and was suppose to receive refund and never got it. So no never had success in using Matterport.

3 yearsWingman (4176): I have CorelDraw and and a plug-in for it that can generate DWG format from vector. If you want I can try to convert your svg file. I cannot guarantee it will work with your file. However I use CorelDraw to draw my artwork in it, then I use the plugin to generate dwg files from it to be sent to a laser cutter and it works just fine.

OBJ file has a bunch of triangles that are used for rendering geometry on screen but there is no way to know whether a triangle belongs to a wall or a pipe, as an example. Hence OBJ file is not intelligent. BIM, on the other hand, is parametric. If you add a wall, it will add a wall object...

6 yearsMontreal3D (202): In most cases this work is done by simply tracing over point clouds. There are many advantages of using the point cloud over the OBJ or FBX model. You also have to keep in mind making floor plans require a different scan pattern since you are aiming for accuracy and not for visual walktrough. I've done quite a few scans for AEC in the last few months (150K sqft) and I keep learning how to maximize the use of the Matterport for use in engineering...

Also, just for thoroughness, it's best to use Chrome, Firefox, Safari, ... anything but Internet Explorer. Edge does work, but I just don't trust it. I hope this helps. -Jon

It doesn't matter what camera you are using, you just need to be logged in to the account where you want the model to be hosted when you upload it. Unless you want to work with a sepparate account for a big client that wants to cover his own monthly fee and conversion costs, I don't realy see the benefit in getting multiple accounts.
