| My guess is that in the near future they will stop supporting probe 1 and Pro 2 scans forcing everyone to buy a pro 3 or the upcoming Pro 4 whenever that comes out. It's all about the mighty dollar. I mean that's what my brain tells me... But I don't even know if it's possible to just stop supporting Pro 1 and Pro 2 scans since they're all matterport driven. But I bet if that is possible, I can absolutely see them doing it to drive more camera sales. | ||

| Understandable to stop production and sales of Matteport 2, but to stop support would be stupid, especially considering they support 3rd party cameras that perform worse. Having a healthy Pro 2 used market only benefits them as it creates a great price point to enter the game for young or new photographers. Actually the path I took. First camera was an iGuide setup because I could remove the Theta Z1 and scan a Matterport space. Next camera was a used Pro 2, and now it's my backup to my Pro 3. |

![]() Matterport.com --> Products Tab (as of Thursday, 23 October 2025 at 11:30 am ET @Buster6070 Even if Matterport discontinues the sale of its Matterport Pro2 Camera - and I don't know that's the case; just that the Pro2 is presently not for sale on Matterport.com - I would be very surprised if Matterport discontinued supporting the Matterport Pro2 Camera. @pixelray It will be interesting to see if Matterport is discontinuing the sale of its Matterport Pro2 Camera to focus on the Matterport Pro3 Camera (or other Matterport Camera). Matterport also stopped promoting the sale of the Matterport AXIS smartphone rotator on Matterport.com Best, Dan |

| Valid points from both... But let's keep in mind that when the Pro 4 does come out and they want to drive sales of that camera, along with further Pro 3 sales, what is one way to do that?Which also at that point in time, the Pro3 will be like the Pro 2 is now. Meaning the Pro 3 will be the intro point into the market for the newer photographers. I mean if you got a Pro 4 out that will more than likely be considerably better than the Pro 3, and also the Pro 3 is still for sale, which we all know is way better than the Pro 2...so why would anyone choose a Pro 2 at that point? Why even give them that option IF you are someone tasked with driving sales of the new camera and the one prior?? So discontinuing support for the Pro 2 would be one of the ways they could absolutely drive sales. And if by chance any one of you is somebody that receives jobs from matterport directly, and you have been with them and back position for quite a few years, then I don't need to explain what they are capable of doing to make more money. So no, I wouldn't put it past them at all to stop support for the Pro 2. Heck if I worked for them, that's exactly what I would do! But of course, I've heard zero rumors about a Pro 4, so we're probably a very long way away from anything like this happening. Fun to spitball though! |

Quote:Originally Posted by pixelray Price point. I can get a used Pro 2 for under 1000 dollars while a used Pro 3 is closer to 6k. As a Real Estate photographer I can tell you my Pro 3 is the most expensive piece of equipment I have and produces the lease revenue in my business. My guess is most real estate photographers are in the same boat. My camera and lense is almost half the cost of the pro 3 and is my bread and butter when it comes to revenue. 4 or 5x the cost of entry into their ecosystem is a dumb move, especially considering they'll already get a subscription from any business entering the game. Not saying they won't do it, just it's not a smart business decision and I would advise any new photographer to avoid Matterport. |

| Well if MP tours can't be on Zillow anymore, that is probably going to cost MP/Costar big time. I'm already having agents say they won't do MP tours anymore because of it. I can imagine this conversation is happening everywhere right now. But in reality, over the last few years, my MP tour business for residential homes has dried up majorly. Since having a Zillow 3D tour actually gives the realtor better placement on Zillow, that is the easy sell. You get zero benefits for having a MP tour in regards to search results on Zillow. So I had already seen major dropoff in regards to selling MP tours...but a handful of agents still used them...now they won't...unless this gets sorted out. Buster, how often do you use your Pro3? Do you also get jobs directly from MP? Currently my pro 3's stay pretty busy but it's because MP sends me a lot of commercial jobs...not a lot of residential jobs. And yeah, I think we are a long way away from this subject thread even happening. But I would bet money on at some point that they will stop supporting Pro 2....but I don't see it happening until the next camera comes out. |
