I'll bet there's one heck of a travel reimbursement.

I asked GPT-4: Based on the 2023 IRS mile allowance, how much would that be for a round trip from the Earth to the Moon?

GPT-4 Writes: [At least $267,568]

As an AI language model, I don't have real-time data, and my knowledge is up to September 2021. I don't have the exact 2023 IRS mileage rate, but I can still help you calculate the hypothetical reimbursement for a round trip from Earth to the Moon using the 2021 rate as an example.

First, let's determine the distance of a round trip from Earth to the Moon. The average distance from Earth to the Moon is approximately 238,900 miles. A round trip would be double this distance, so:

238,900 miles * 2 = 477,800 miles

In 2021, the IRS standard mileage rate was 56 cents per mile for business use. Using this rate as an example:

477,800 miles * $0.56 = $267,568

Based on the 2021 IRS mileage rate, the hypothetical reimbursement for a round trip from Earth to the Moon would be $267,568. Keep in mind that the actual mileage rate for 2023 might be different, and the IRS mileage rate is meant for car travel, not space travel.

I could imagine that the reimbursement rate could vary based on distance on any given day between the Earth and the Moon or if the reimbursement rate is based on a Tesla inside or outside a rocket ship 🚀

@Sdoughtie @GamelLarry @DanSmigrod yup I would love to see that bill from a MP service provider $250.00 standard model rate and $267,000 standard travel rate not including per-diem. 😂😂😂
