Hello, I have a Matterport business where we work with Multi-family companies across the country. A year ago one of my accounts was going to use us for many properties, but they ended up using Matterport's scanning business. The screw up was when they wanted to host all of their tours internally, they called Matterport to setup their own cloud plan, and then a sales rep at Matterport convinced them to go with them. Complete insanity. I currently have a new, pending account when I could end up in the same position. Is there anything I can do to protect myself from this happening again? I can't legally do anything against Matterport, but it seems highly unethical. If someone internally at Matterport sees the email address from the account I have pending when they go to setup the cloud plan, they would love to get this account. I know Matterport is making millions off their scanning business, so what would stop them from doing this again. This is currently a hypothetical situation, but was looking for some advice if this does happen. Thanks! |

Sorry im not sure what to answer you but just venting I guess. I had a question about the pro 3 before purchasing, I left "10" voicemails to sales and they never returned my call. I ended up purchasing from a third party that actually has customer service and salespeople. Matterport sales I guess is too busy stealing clients from their paying clients.

This happened to me, but slightly different...I had a local commercial company use me for scanning for a couple of years, but they have also gone to ordering scans from MP directly even though they pay more than what I was charging. Really strange...the sale pitch must be really good and I'm guessing they get deals on the long term hosting for them to consider using them. I don't know for sure, but would love to hear it. I actually believe since they can go into anyone's account and see the info for the client that purchased the tour (that info being right there in the details section for them to see, and then to contact them directly), I believe that was the way they got to my customer...I could be wrong, but that makes sense to me. The way I found out though was that MP contacted me to do the scans through their scan services program. I am the MSP in my market that gets the jobs directly from MP, so while I lost that customer, I have probably gained many more scans than I ever would have gotten on my own...so that's the tradeoff that I can personally look at that makes it all feel better. But make no mistake, they can absolutely go into each one of your scans and see the details section that lists your clients info, and I have no doubt they have used that to build their scan service business.

@pixelray that is why only put your details in the tours, and use 3rd party solutions like Treedis, Captur3d , MPskin to name a few. Because we all on here know what they have been doing for years now. I have caught them out how many times now and exposed them on this forum, with evidence that they have done it, but their senior management just says they signed an NDNA and they cannot disclose where they steal the details from, luckily we are way more intelligent than they are. |
