Pistol Grip Ball Head Tripod Mount (for DSLR) Suggestions14244

I'm looking for a good Pistol Grip Ball Head for DSLR panos - one that stands upright so the arm isn't in the way for panos.  I used a cheap SunPak version for years.  It was poorly made but went well with the welcomed ultra-lightweight tripod that came with it and got the job done (https://ebay.to/3pplPJd).  I went through plenty of these - they broke down quickly.

Then with an upgrade to a larger DSLR, I attempted to upgrade my tripod and panohead as well.  I purchased this - https://www.adorama.com/3pshpg.html.  Note - I use the alternate configuration for panos (see last photo in listing) to keep the arm out of the way for panos.  It works ok.  Seems well made but when I clinch the grip and try to maneuver the position, it is very difficult.  My cheap and flimsy Sunpak product did better in this regard.

So I spent more money and tried to upgrade again.  I bought this - https://www.adorama.com/bg322rc2.html.  I messed up for two reasons.  First and foremost, it does not have an alternate configuration like I thought that lets the trigger go upright and out of the way for panos.  Also, despite the much higher cost, when I clinch the trigger and try to maneuver the position, it does not function any better than the 3Pod.  I still use it for stills regularly.

I should note that I adjust the tension knob on these and fiddle with them plenty.  Maybe I am still missing something???  You would think the mechanism would work at least as well as the cheap SunPak version.  I should also note that much of what I do is contract work for operations purposes where image volume is heavy and speed is key.  I just want to be able squeeze and position my camera easliy and quickly.  I'm willing to pay if I know it will work.

Thoughts???  Thanks!!!
