JPEG Equirectangular misaligned with the Pro321437

JavieB private msg quote post Address this user
Hello everyone.

I'd like to ask if any of you have noticed that when you publish a Matterport scan on Google Street View, some of the photos aren't properly aligned, which creates a somewhat unsightly effect. For example, this happens to me in any situation, whether it's a narrow space or an open area. Navigating through the 3D model, they look perfect. The misalignment is only noticeable when converted to JPEG for navigating the business in Street View. It's very unpleasant.Does anyone else experience this? Is there a user-friendly solution, or is it a problem inherent to the Matterport software?
I should add that this only happens to me with the Pro3. I never noticed this effect with the Pro2.

All my best !
Javier

I have never noticed it.

The best you can do is reprocess the photos (at a much lower resolution) and upload via Google Streetview publishing software such as GoThru.

Download the panos one by one in the Matterport workshop. If you have access to an MPEmbed you can batch download but either way the resolution will be reduced.

If you have access to the Matterport API for downloading 16K panoramas that would be best but I understand it is expensive and probably not worth it just for publishing to Streetview. If your client is willing to pay well a different story.

I hope this helps

Hi. Many tanks for your quick answer.

I've tried exporting them directly from Matterport's 360 photo editor.

I've also downloaded them directly from my Street View account after publishing them from Matterport to review and link the nodes and publish the tour to Street View with Pano2vr.

With all the tests I've done so far, I think it's a conversion problem in Matterport's software to equirectangular.

But what's strange is that it only happens with the Pro3.

Your tripod is not aligned, camera is tilted so 360. You can always level downloaded panoramas.

I'm obsessed with leveling every single shot. I level when I shoot with Matterport, with a DSLR, and in interior and architectural photography. That's not the problem.
Thanks for your input.

I have noticed that the Pro3 is best at a slight angle.

I sounds weird but I noticed that the spirit level on the Pro3 tripod is better for leveling the camera than placing a separate spirit level on top of the camera.

I was taken back when I first used the Pro3 (last year) as when the spirit level on the tripod was showing correct level, the camera itself was slightly diagonal (upwards). However the results came out better than when I placed the spirit level on top.

It is possible the camera was designed that way.

If you still have the Pro3 tripod try it at let me know how it goes.

I have leveled your pano, it is typical tilted camera issue

I've been analyzing projects submitted with the Pro2 and I've noticed that sometimes they also deliver incorrectly generated equirectangulars, like the one shown at the beginning of this post. This leads me to believe it's a mounting problem that Matterport's software has and hasn't fixed.

I would add that the same scan seen in Matterport navigation is perfectly aligned.

matterport align tilted panoramas in model using mesh data, but original image stays distorted
